Pupil Services / Special Education
IDEA 2004 is federal legislation that mandates free and appropriate education for all students identified as having an educational disability in all public schools across our nation. The School District of Brodhead continues to embrace and support the IDEA requirements of educating students with disabilities in their least restrictive environments which ensure that - "To the maximum extent appropriate, children with disabilities are educated with children who are not disabled, and that special classes, separate schooling, or other removal of children with disabilities from the regular educational environment occurs only when the nature or severity of the disability is such that education in regular classes with the use of supplementary aids and services cannot be achieved satisfactorily." 20 U.S.C. 1412
If you have questions about your child's learning, please contact your child's teacher or the school psychologist. You are also welcome to contact the Pupil Services Director if you have questions about your child's learning or the special education process.
We will hold our Child Find screening activities on October 7, November 18, January 27, and March 30 at Albrecht Elementary School. If you have a child between the ages of two and six and are interested in learning more about your child's development please contact Tracy Lueck at 608-897-2141, ext. 174 to attend one of our Child Find activities.
