My name is Kate Hipenbecker and I am a professional school counselor for the School District of Brodhead, primarily working with our youngest students at Albrecht Elementary. I have my Bachelor's degree in Child Development and Family Studies from UW-Madison and my Master's degree in Counseling from UW-Whitewater. I am passionate about my work and strive to see that all kids succeed in school.

As a school counselor I work alongside teachers and parents to help students develop socially and emotionally, and to help remove barriers they have to learning.

I provide classroom lessons, work with students in small groups and provide individual counseling. Students are often referred to me by classroom teachers, school staff or by parents.

In classrooms and during individual work with students we may discuss a variety of topics including: managing emotions and coping skills, solving problems, life changes, making and keeping friends, self-esteem/self-confidence, conflict resolution and more.

In addition to my work directly with students I consult with teachers, help develop school-wide programming and provide community resource referrals, including referrals to longer term therapy services as needed.
